A proven value-creation leader with more than 25 years of experience, Anup has built a distinguished track record of scaling high-growth technology companies through private expansion, IPO readiness, public company execution, and successful strategic outcomes. Beyond financial results, Anup is particularly known for building world-class teams, developing future leaders, and creating high-performance organizations. His leadership style emphasizes disciplined growth, cross functional collaboration, and strong organizational readiness.
Over more than seven years at Illumio, Anup has been instrumental in the company’s evolution from a high growth challenger into a recognized market leader. During his tenure, Illumio has scaled from 200 employees to nearly 1,000 globally and grown from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue (ARR).
Anup has guided Illumio through critical growth milestones, including the $90M Series E financing (2019–2020) and the $225M Series F financing (2021) at a $2.75B valuation. His leadership has strengthened Illumio’s financial foundation amid a rapidly changing cybersecurity and macroeconomic landscape.
Beyond capital strategy, Anup is known for aligning financial rigor with operational excellence across the organization. In addition to leading accounting and finance, his scope spans legal, investor relations, information technology, sales and customer experience operations, and real estate and workplace services. Within that remit, he is a visible executive sponsor for responsible AI adoption to improve productivity, decision making, and operational effectiveness.
Prior to Illumio, Anup served as CFO of Anaplan, where he led a $60M Series F financing and drove operating plan initiatives supporting rapid growth and global expansion.
Previously, as CFO of Nimble Storage, he played a central role in one of Silicon Valley’s most successful scale ups. Under his leadership, Nimble grew from 100 to 1,300 employees and from $10M to $500M in revenue. Anup led the company through a successful $193M IPO on the NYSE and subsequently guided Nimble through its $1.4B acquisition by Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
